Why This Canoe Is Available
A local college purchased this canoe — along with several others — for an environmental field program. They needed a big, lightweight boat that could comfortably hold four students, and the Cronje delivered beautifully on performance and efficiency.

Once they began using it, they realized their program required something a bit different: a wider, ultra‑stable light weight platform that students could safely lean over while collecting plant samples. To better fit their needs, we took this canoe back and set them up with an 18' Kevlar Prospector instead.

Why It’s a Great Opportunity
This Cronje 17 is a fast, efficient cruiser built for covering distance with ease. It’s light, responsive, and ideal for paddlers who want a long, capable touring canoe at a fantastic price. It’s looking for the right home — someone who appreciates speed, glide, and the feel of a true tripping canoe.

If that sounds like you, this is a rare chance to pick up a premium Aramid Lite Nova Craft at a value you won’t often see. We’ve included a couple of photos from our offsite warehouse so you can get a sense of its condition — it’s truly like new. If you’re nearby, we’d love for you to stop in and take a look. This one deserves a good home.

The Chestnut Canoe Company designed the Cronje to be a fast, reliable canoe for people who have a destination in mind. The design is rich in history and is a very able performer. Our reproduction of this venerable canoe retains both the paddling characteristics and the tradition of the original.

The Cronje is ideally suited to paddlers who want to challenge big, open water by covering distance with ease. Fast lines and excellent tracking make it a joy to use. Cargo capacity isn’t compromised for speed and the canoe handles well both with a load and empty. Its lower profile means less wind drag on the water and lower weight on the portage trail. The Cronje is most at home in landscapes with large open lakes like the famed Boundary Waters or Algonquin Park.

Shipping Information

We've got boats coming and going all season long - see what's coming in and when trucks are shipping out here: Boats Coming In, Trucks Heading Out

We ship our boats via courier shipping with first-to-final-mile delivery, which means that your boat will stay on one truck and will not change hands from our door to your door. After you place your order, we will contact our network of couriers and/or put it out for bid, and contact you with cost and delivery estimates. Depending on your boat's destination, this process may take several weeks - the further from our location, the longer the process may take. We ask that you inspect your boat for any shipping damage prior to signing for and accepting the delivery.

Please be aware that these are large, premium boats requiring special handling. We’ve provided an estimated shipping cost, but the final amount may vary depending on distance, delivery location, and the transporter we secure for your order. Kenco does not profit from shipping—charges reflect only the actual delivery expense.

As of May 2026, we have had to adjust our shipping policy regarding boats and paddleboards. Due to increasing difficulty in finding a carrier to deliver west of the Mississippi, we have removed those states from our boat shipping options. If you are located in one of those states and are interested in a boat, please contact us by phone or email to discuss options for getting a boat to you, and we'll do our best to find a shipping company that can get it there.

Due to its size, the estimated shipping cost for one boat/paddleboard is

$499.00 USD
