This Pal 16 TuffStuff was originally custom‑built for one of our longtime customers. As happens to many of us, the years go by and the boats seem to get a little heavier. After trying it at home, he realized the 52‑pound weight was more than he wanted to manage, so we took it back unused and had a Kevlar version built for him instead — that one came in at just 45 pounds.

That means this beautiful Pal 16 is now looking for its next paddler at a greatly reduced price. It’s brand‑new, never been on the water, and ready for someone who wants a classic Nova Craft design with the durability of TuffStuff.

During its long history of building canoes, the Chestnut Canoe Company produced a range of models they called Pleasure canoes. One model proved to have such universal appeal that it became the definition of a general-purpose craft. This model began life as the Ajax but it grew to be so popular that it was renamed Pal to reflect the affection owners felt while using it.

Nova Craft has painstakingly reproduced the lines of the original Pal to provide today’s paddlers with the opportunity to own one of the best general-purpose traditional canoes ever made. It’s a great choice for paddlers who want a canoe that does it all well. Nicely suited for flatwater trips or short outings for sightseeing or fishing, the Pal handles rough water well and feels comfortable in windy conditions. Indeed, it’s a pleasure to paddle either tandem or solo. Once you paddle one you’ll know why owners call it “My Pal”.

Shipping Information

We've got boats coming and going all season long - see what's coming in and when trucks are shipping out here: Boats Coming In, Trucks Heading Out

We ship our boats via courier shipping with first-to-final-mile delivery, which means that your boat will stay on one truck and will not change hands from our door to your door. After you place your order, we will contact our network of couriers and/or put it out for bid, and contact you with cost and delivery estimates. Depending on your boat's destination, this process may take several weeks - the further from our location, the longer the process may take. We ask that you inspect your boat for any shipping damage prior to signing for and accepting the delivery.

Please be aware that these are large, premium boats requiring special handling. We’ve provided an estimated shipping cost, but the final amount may vary depending on distance, delivery location, and the transporter we secure for your order. Kenco does not profit from shipping—charges reflect only the actual delivery expense.

As of May 2026, we have had to adjust our shipping policy regarding boats and paddleboards. Due to increasing difficulty in finding a carrier to deliver west of the Mississippi, we have removed those states from our boat shipping options. If you are located in one of those states and are interested in a boat, please contact us by phone or email to discuss options for getting a boat to you, and we'll do our best to find a shipping company that can get it there.

Due to its size, the estimated shipping cost for one boat/paddleboard is

$499.00 USD
