Schrade Knives began in 1904 as the Schrade Cutlery Company. For 116 years we've provided innovative Knives, Multi-Tools, Cutting Tools, and Equipment. Rooted in History: In 1892 George Schrade designed, developed and patented the first ever push button automatic knife, truly setting the knife world on fire and becoming known by many as the "Father of the Automatic Knife". George later started the Schrade Cutlery Company in 1904 and dedicated all of his time to working to build upon his cutlery and the Schrade name. Over the next 4 decades, George continued to add innovative and useful designs for hardworking customers before passing away in 1940. George left the cutlery industry much better than he found it and the Schrade name will live on forever because of the long days & nights spent in the factory perfecting his craft. Schrade Knives are Rooted in History.
